![]() I use the, um, not so legal methods to find things I like and then I participate in the comic economy once I'm up to speed. But I now buy the paper copies when they come out because I like it and I want to support my Local Comic Shop and I like having something physical. Now, I plead that I'm not a shill, ok? In short - yes, these apps, and this article, provides the tools for how you would comfortably read pirated comic cbr and cbz files on your ipad. There are dedicated scanning teams that post new cbr or cbz files after Wednesday releases pretty regularly, as well as those who bundle torrents of older issues. I'd wager that comics are massively pirated and a huge part of pirate bays business. It's only fair to point out, thought, that cbr and cbz files (which are literally nothing more than just basically zip or rar files of scanned jpegs with re-named file extentions to seem 'sophisticated') are pretty much the domain of comic pirates. I have no idea how Cesar got all the Batman comics DRM-free as shown in his photo above, but unless he personally scans his comics, I suspect there might be some, ah, infringement afoot. I am unaware if you can even get DRM free comics from Marvel, DC, Image or Dark Horse (like 99% of distributed comics) at all. I also read a metric ton of comics on my iPad (ComicBookLover app - free, Dropbox imports, swiping, good enough). I buy lots of DRM-free paper comics from my local comic shop. I have never bought a DRM-free comic digitally. ![]() Um, well, you see, just as a CD player COULD be used for playing legitimate CDs OR burnt mp3s ripped from the internet, so these tools are pretty much able to also, um, do that. ![]() Or is my inner cynic right in guessing that in this instance "DRM free" is just code for "pirated"?
